About UntitledTown
Welcome to the UntitledTown Book and Author Festival—Northeastern Wisconsin’s premier free, community-driven literary event that transforms Green Bay into a vibrant, intellectual hub for readers, writers, and thinkers.
Our Story & History
Born out of a shared passion for storytelling, the concept of UntitledTown was sparked in November 2016 over coffee. Founders Wendy Wimmer (an award-winning author) and Alex Galt (former co-owner of Kavarna Coffeehouse) wanted to build an inclusive space where local poets, fiction writers, and everyday people chasing literary aspirations and a love of books, stories, and reading could find their community.
What started as a grassroots idea quickly blossomed into a massive cultural movement. Supported by a dedicated network of local volunteers, civic leaders, business owners, and non-profit partners, the festival rapidly scaled into a regional powerhouse. Following a brief pause due to pandemic lockdowns, the festival was thoughtfully stewarded by the Friends of the Brown County Library before finding its permanent operational home in 2025 at The Art Garage (Cedar Center Arts), anchored by President and co-founder Wendy Wimmer.
Why UntitledTown Matters
True to our founding vision, UntitledTown remains 100% free and open to the public. By removing economic and institutional barriers to education and the arts, we ensure that literature remains a shared human experience for people of all backgrounds.
More than just a book festival, UntitledTown is a vital civic and economic engine. By bringing national talent into classrooms, community centers, and local venues, we celebrate the written word while driving foot traffic to downtown Green Bay’s hotels, restaurants, and shops.
