Peggy Joque Williams
Award-winning author Peggy Joque Williams writes historical fiction inspired by her love of genealogy and her deep historical research into her European, French-Canadian, and Ojibwe ancestors. Her books, Courting the Sun: A Novel of Versailles and Braving the Dawn: A Novel of New France were written as an homage to her 7th and 8th great-grandmothers, who traveled from France to Quebec as members of the Filles du Roi (Daughters of the King). Her newest work, a historical mystery set in 17th century Paris, will be published in March 2027. A retired elementary school teacher, Peggy lives in Madison.
