Writers don’t know everything, which is why they need to rely on insights from others. Interviewing subject matter experts often is necessary in article writing, and it’s also common for fiction writers exploring unfamiliar topics. This session will help attendees find the proper experts and navigate the interview process.

Michael Popke
Michael Popke has written thousands of articles during his 36-year career as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor, and freelance writer. He owns Two Lakes Media Group in Sun Prairie, Wis., and his work has appeared in Publishers Weekly, Goldmine, The Sun, Madison’s Isthmus, Milwaukee’s Shepherd Express, Athletic Business, In Business, AQUA, Gameday Security and other publications. Michael also has written for clients as diverse as Madison College, FieldTurf, and the Wisconsin Grocers Association, and his fiction has appeared in Moss Piglet and “The 50-Word Stories of 2025” anthology. Michael’s debut novel, Why Iowa?, is on submission with his agent.
